Corey Wootton comes to Vikings

If the pattern has not become clear by now, the Vikings are intent on giving their defensive line a makeover this offseason.

That trend continued today as the Vikings added another free agent piece to their line, signing former Bears defensive end Corey  Wootton according to multiple sources.

Wootton will always hold a rather infamous piece in Vikings history, as he delivered the blow that ended Brett Favre's career. Maybe he viewed playing for the Vikings as a redemptive act, of sorts.

More likely, the Vikings viewed Wootton as valuable depth at multiple positions on their defensive line. Wooten will most likely rotate with Everson Griffen and Brian Robison at defensive end, and he also has the versatility to slide inside if needed.

Wooten received a one year, $1.5 million deal from the Vikings, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling.

Wootton has totaled 10 sacks in the past two seasons for the Bears, along with three forced fumbles and six passes defensed.

The Vikings depth chart on the defensive line keeps looking better and better by the day.
