Vikings sign guard Vladimir Ducasse

The Vikings have added depth to their offensive line today, signing free agent guard Vladimir Ducasse to a one-year deal, according to Fox Sports.

Ducasse had previously visited Winter Park and had also received interest from the Bengals.

Ducasse was previously a second round pick of the New York Jets but never was able to hold a starting job in the Big Apple. Ducasse started the first four games of the season for the Jets at left guard but was benched due to issues in pass protection.

Ducasse is another offensive line depth signing for the Vikings, as training camp is shaping up to be quite a battle between offensive lineman. Charlie Johnson, Joe Berger, Jeff Baca and Ducasse all figure to compete for the starting left guard job and swing lineman positions.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available, but the deal is likely modest as Ducasse will have to prove he's worthy of making the 53 man roster in training camp.

As the Pioneer Press pointed out, Ducasse is the first outside free agent the Vikings have signed on offense all offseason.
