Vikings Receive no Compensatory Picks
The NFL announced compensatory selections for the 2014 NFL Draft today, and the Vikings received no extra draft picks.
The move was expected, as the team lost no key players to free agency last year, instead adding to the team with Greg Jennings.
Compensatory picks are awarded every year to teams that experience major losses in free agency. For instance Green Bay was awarded a compensatory pick in the third round (98th overall) for the loss of Greg Jennings. Compensatory picks must be used to select new players and cannot be traded.
The Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets led all teams in 2014, with four compensatory selections.
With the compensatory selections in, the NFL Draft order is officially set. The full order of picks awarded can be found here: http://nfllabor.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/03-24-14-compensatory-picks.pdf
The 2014 NFL will begin on May 8th.
