Vikings to bring in Henry Melton

Winter Park hasn't gone completely quiet in Day 2 of free agency, as multiple outlets are now reporting that Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton will pay the Vikings a visit at Winter Park tomorrow.
Melton was a Pro Bowler in 2012 with the Bears after recording six sacks, which resulted in him getting the franchise tag from the team. The Bears and Melton were unable to come to a long-term agreement, and then Melton tore his ACL in week three of the 2013 season.

Now, Melton hits the open market a year later with his value significantly diminished.

The news comes off as a bit surprising, as the Vikings starting defensive line appeared set with the signing of Linval Joeseph yesterday. Of course, the Vikings are still depth-starved at defensive tackle, and perhaps they think Melton could serve as a good mentor and for Sharrif Floyd.

If Melton does indeed sign with the Vikings, it will interesting to see the terms. Still young at only age 27, Melton could be looking for a one-year, "prove-it" deal to regain his value. Melton might be looking at new coach Mike Zimmer and think he's the perfect guy to bring up his production.

The Bears and the Cowboys interest have also shown interest in Melton. With the release of DeMarcus Ware, the Cowboys have a glaring need on their defensive line.

The Vikings have made no moves as of yet on Wednesday, as Rick Speilman and some of the coaching staff is currently is Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Pro Day. Notable names working out there include quarterback AJ McCarron and linebacker C.J. Mosley.
