The 2013 NFL draft marked the first time in 50 years that a running back was not selected in the first round. One year later, and it looks likely that the NFL is ready to set a new trend, with consecutive years with backs not hearing their name called on day one.

Top Offensive Lineman in 2014 NFL Draft
The 2013 draft class was billed as "the year of the fatty," because all of the buzz before draft day centered around the lineman that were projected to go early. In the end, three of the first four picks and five of the first ten ended up being offensive lineman. The 2013 class was also notable for its offensive line depth, with later first round picks in Justin Pugh and Kyle Long, as well as later round picks like David Bakhtiari and Jordan Mills, providing huge value to their respective franchises.

Yesterday I took a look at all of the Vikings in-house free agents this offseason, and tried to take a stab at which ones the Vikings should consider keeping and which ones may head for other franchises. A look at the Vikings 2014 Free Agents
With the NFL Scouting Combine currently in full swing down in Indianapolis, the Vikings are not only getting to know the 2014 draft class, they're starting to lay the groundwork for free agency as well. While NFL teams are not supposed to negotiate before the official start of the free agency period March 11, agents and team representatives frequently get together during the Combine to assess interest and what each side is vaguely looking for in a potential deal.

Vikings Combine Preview: Quarterbacks
The first big event of the NFL offseason kicked off today, as league officials from all 32 teams and hundreds of draft prospects have all converged in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine. Prospects will be measured and weighed, get medical evaluations, go through different drills, and perhaps most importantly, be interviewed by NFL coaches and front office leaders.
